It is an easy part of the city to get around from, whether you work downtown or in the southeast business districts.

Communities like Lake Bonavista are served by well regarded public schools such as Lake Bonavista, Andrew Sibbald, and Nickle, Catholic options like St. Boniface and St. Bonaventure, and high schools including Dr. E. P. Scarlett. Many offer French Immersion, and in the older communities children can often walk to school without crossing major roads.
Southcentre Mall is one of Calgary's premier shopping destinations, right in the district, and Deerfoot Meadows adds big box retail nearby. Fish Creek Provincial Park is the crown jewel, hundreds of kilometres of trails for hiking, biking, and cross country skiing, right on the district's southern edge. Add the private lakes at Lake Bonavista with swimming, skating, and fishing, plus the Willow Park and Canyon Meadows golf courses, and there is genuine year round recreation without leaving the area.
