Southeast Calgary
Calgary's largest lake, resort-style living, and one of the city's most awarded master-planned communities.
Mahogany Calgary was launched in 2007 by Hopewell Residential and has gone on to win multiple "Community of the Year" awards, including its very first year on the market. It's built around a 63-acre freshwater lake, the largest in the city, complete with two private beaches, the West Beach and the Main Beach, for swimming, paddleboarding, and skating depending on the season.
The community spans over 1,200 planned acres, with 265+ acres of open space, 22 kilometres of pathways, and 74 acres of naturalized wetlands woven throughout. Mahogany Village Market anchors the retail side with grocery stores, restaurants, and boutique shops, and the plan calls for roughly 25,000 residents once the community reaches full build-out.

Life in Mahogany
Mahogany sits east of 52 Street SE and south of Stoney Trail, giving quick access to Deerfoot Trail and the rest of the southeast. It's a car-oriented community by design, with downtown typically 30 to 40 minutes away depending on traffic.
Mahogany includes its own K-6 school, Divine Mercy School, right in the community, with both public and Catholic boards continuing to build as the area grows. Many families have a school within walking distance, with busing covering the newest phases.
Mahogany Village Market is the retail heart, grocery stores, restaurants, and everyday services right in the community. Seton's larger retail hub, including a Save-On-Foods, Walmart, and Home Depot, is a short drive away for bigger shopping trips.
The 63-acre lake is the main draw: swimming, paddleboarding, and beach clubs in summer, skating in winter. Add 22 kilometres of pathways and 74 acres of wetlands, and Mahogany delivers genuinely resort-style recreation without leaving the community.
Growing families who want a planned community with lake access, buyers who prioritize newer construction and amenities over inner-city character, and anyone who wants a resort-style lifestyle without leaving the city limits.
Mahogany has the widest price range of any Calgary lake community. Condos and townhomes start around $350,000 to $550,000, making it one of the few lake communities accessible to first-time buyers, while detached homes typically run $650,000 to $1.2 million, and lakefront or estate properties regularly exceed $1.5 to $2 million.
Lake community HOA fees fund the beach access, pathways, and amenities, a real ongoing cost worth budgeting for. Because Mahogany is still actively developing along its eastern and southern edges, it's worth confirming what's already built versus still under construction before you commit.
